Diane Lane, James Gandolfini, and Thomas Dekker Shoot New Reality TV Inspired Movie: Cinema Verite

James Gandolfini and Diane Lane filming "Cinema Verite"
I came across the latest pictures of Diane Lane, James Gandolfini, and Thomas Dekker at the set of their newest film-shoot, Cinema Verite, produced by HBO films. This new movie is a dramatization of the 1973 documentary, An American Family, which is said to be the first form of the reality TV genre on any TV screen in America. With that being cleared, it's very obvious to say that reality TV has currently taken over the entertainment industry with shows like Bravo Network's "Real Housewives of New Jersey", and MTV's "The Real World", but haven't you ever stopped to think about where exactly the concept of it all came from, what the stem of reality TV really is?

An American Family, is a PBS documentary film that followed the lives of the dis-functional and nuclear, Loud family, which consisted of Bill and Pat Loud - who were separated and filed for divorce during the filming of the show. The show was very controversial at the time because it displayed  topics which were not yet publicly approved, such as homosexuality and divorce - Lance Loud (Bill and Pat Loud's eldest son) was the first openly gay character, to come out on public television while going through his parent's divorce. Lance was also a magazine columnist and wave rock-n-roll performer during the 70's.

The cast starring in the new film, Cinema Verite, consists of Tim Robbins (as Bill Loud), Diane Lane (as Pat Loud), Thomas Dekker (as Lance Loud), and James Gandolfini (as Craig Albert). The film has been recently seen shooting in NY at the Chelsea Hotel during late Summer 2010. The film is written by David Seltzer, and directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini.
